So Just for fun I put my pollution per tick to as close to neutral as possible, at -1, and then I did not touch the game at all just left the science tab open to monitor pollution. In the short time I was keeping tabs on it, I saw pollution go up to -3, down to -4, up to -3, and back down to -1. There is definitely something hinky going on; somekitty is out there muddying our waters and dirtying our air, and I’m going to get to the bottom of it!
I’m not convinced, but I remain suspicious. I’ve swapped my season to Charon so I can get my Gigaflops back down to 0, and while pollution per tick hasn’t gone up (it’s at -148 because I only have 3 magnetos active rn) it’s not going down either, which I would have expected.
I’m wondering if this is related to what I think might have been a new update? I noticed a new challenge in the challenge tab, Unicorn Tears, which I’ve never seen before. I haven’t gone up a transcendence level in a while, still at T22, so either I didn’t notice it when I hit 22 or this is a fresh-out-the-oven challenge.
I will continue to monitor the situation, the kittens have a right to know!
I can’t tell if this is a bug, but it might be related the how many Gigaflops you currently have, because that’s the only thing that’s also been steadily increasing for me.
Every once and a while I’ll also notice instead of going up 1 pollution per tick, it will go down by 1. This might be because I exit Redmoon season and so I’m no longer gaining Gigaflops, I’m losing them because my entanglement stations are converting more Gigaflops that the AI cores are generating.
Okay I’ve discovered this is due to the seasons changing and solar farms. I watched it as the seasons change and it’s directly related to the amount of energy that you receive from solar farms between season. For instance in Spring I was at -3 pollution per tick. In summer -4, in Autumn -3, and in Winter -1, then back to -3 next spring.
I don’t quite understand, because I’d swear that earlier pollution was dramatically increasing by a couple pollution per tick a few times per year, but I can’t seems to get to confirm that anymore. Perhaps I’m going crazy. Or maybe Everykitty on Cath is crazy and I’m the only sane one. Time will tell…
